Dr. Sujay Renga

Dr. Sujay Renga is a Senior Interventional Cardiologist at NS Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences, a 500-bed multispecialty tertiary care centre in Kollam, Kerala. In addition he runs his own clinic at the heart of Kollam city.

Dr. Renga holds an MD in Internal Medicine from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, and a DM in Cardiology from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. He has also done postgraduate diploma in medico legal systems and quality in healthcare from Symbiosis university, Pune. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC), European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and Scociety for Cadiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).

From 2009-10, while serving as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Sahakarana Hrudayala, ACME, Pariyaram Medical College, Kannur, he was involved in the management of patients with acute Coronary Syndrome, cardiac failure and Rheumatic heart disease and independently performed coronary and non-coronary interventions. During his tenure as an Assistant Professor in Cardiology at Medical College , Trivandrum, from 2010 - 11, Dr. Renga generously shared his expertise and experience by imparting training to postgraduates in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, MBBS and Nursing students and Cardiovascular Technicians. He got trained in cardiac electrophysiology under the guidance of world renowned Cardiac Electropysiologist, Dr. Thomas Peter.

He worked as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut, from 2011-13, where he independently performed complex coronary and non coronary interventions. He was also involved in cardiac electrophysiologic procedures. He joined Bishop Benziger Hospital, Kollam in 2013 as the Head of the cardiology department and Director of cath lab. During the 6 years [2013-19] that he spent there, he was instrumental in converting the institution to one of the highest volume centers in Kollam.

Dr. Sujay Renga intends to pursue a career in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He also wants to do basic research in Atherosclerosis and be involved in medical teaching. He has an active interest in medical software and gadgets and has been involved in the development of software for clinical trials and devices for patient monitoring
